  1. Yes do not bring home rocks from Pompeii, your bringing misfortune and misery with you. You don't want to end up like the thousand mailing it back to the Pompeii post office.

  2. Pompeii is on our to visit list for our trip to Italy next summer. We just haven't decided on when to go yet. We only have our 4 days (5 nights) in Rome set for now. We do want to go to Naples, the Amalfi Coast before renting a car and heading to Campobasso province in the Molise region to visit Larino, the comune where my nonno was born before coming here to Canada with my great grand-parents when he was four.
For first timers, do you recommend doing both Pompeii and Herculaneum, or just one of the two?
    Bonjour! Hi! from Montreal, QC!

  3. Not sure i get the fuss of visiting derelicts buildings, its not as if julius caesar is running the tour. If they let me loose with a metal detector i would go. I get and enjoy Musuems and attractions. the sistine chapel i get but stones i would have to get stoned to enjoy. At least at alton tower you get a near death experience. "Ahh its stones can we go now ?

  4. Tip for train travel. Pomei scavi station has very narrow steep steps and NO accessible access in or out. If this affects you take another form of travel from naples. Alfo consider the rear entry to the park not the main entry. It is less crowded and brings you in near regular shops to the ampitheatre. Great accomodation etc tgere too. The main entry is a tourist trap

  5. Avoid tge summer heat. There is no shelter and its very hot and unpleasant and its enormous. For shorter visits choose herculenium. If you have time see both. And its crowded. Cooler weather is better
